Quintin's Bridges and Footprints

A citizen-led campaign in 2025 to recall 26–31 opposition Kuomintang (KMT) lawmakers, accused of pushing pro-China policies and undermining democracy. Unfortunately, it failed to make any recall for any one of 25 legislators and one Hisnchu mayor.

I have left Taiwan for more than 4 years and my household registration has been cancelled after two years abscence in Taiwan soil. Jolie and I were still very disappointed and shock to this results. The failure of the recall votes, which preserved the KMT and TPP majority in Taiwan’s legislature, could complicate President Lai Ching-te’s ability to advance defense spending and align with U.S. expectations.

I will closely follow up US reaction to this result. Trump’s administration focuses in Indo-Pacific region, especially the China’s threats to geographical and global safety. I am still worried how US understands this result and how it would impact on US treat Taiwan as on of his alliance.
