Our first day of summer trip, we visited one good friend family who work in Washington DC. We enjoyed a great dinner together. Emily and Alice also played with their lovely little daughter at home.
As we will layover at Florence SC for our day 2 (Aug-9-2025), we had time to swing by some places on the way. Again, Google and ChatGPT were still our personal assistants. We visited Occoquan Historic District, just several minutes from our hotel. It is a walkable small town along a river with outdoor park and kayak ramp.
On the way south, we also stopped at downtown Richmond VA. It was weekend and almost no traffic and people there. We visited the Virginia State Capital. It is a designed well building with good tourist guide. Most of us actually are not very well known history though.
Emily, Alice and I spent a good time in VA State Capital. But Jolie had to be outside with Yoyo. This is not on our original plan, but we were happy to have the small add-on.
