Frozen Musical, Boston, Nov 3 2023

Emily’s rowing fall season ended in the first week of November. When it comes to November, I feel like the holiday season is just near us. The whole family watched the “Frozen” Broadway musical in Citizen Bank Opers House. Of course, Jolie was always the most excited one.

Framingham State University

Before winter vacation, we had some college campus visits this month. We visited a local state university, Framingham State University, which focused on providing reasonable and cost-effective college experiences. As a public university, it indeed provides new chances of receiving a decent education and getting a channel to a better life locally (Massachusettes).

The next day, we drove to Providence, RI to visit Brown University. It provided a good campus visit by a student. I feel like this is a good school with open curriculum and passionate students. Students can navigate their own academic paths and explore new topics in their college life. Even the mascot, the brown bear is also very lovely. Only one thing, probably out of Emily’s scope, is this is a Division I NCAA school for rowing and squash club.

Jumbo and Yang Family in Tufts University, Nov 10, 2023

Very quickly, we had our fourth campus visit to Tufts University. The admission officer talked about everything without any slides. He also asked which grades the students were in.  There were many juniors and some sophomores. But, Alice was also counted as the category of “forced to be here“. He is really a funny admission officer. The student guide whose major is pre-med introduced the campus and shared her experiences of the Early Assurance Program for MD very well. The mascot, Jumbo, is also a lovely elephant. Most importantly, Tufts is in Division III NCAA with Rowing and Squash Varsity.

The end of fall also means the season of squash is on the way. Although Emily has decided to pursue rowing, she still loves to play squash. In the meantime, Alice is still pursuing her achievement in the junior tournament. Before Alice starts her rowing training, we still look forward to having her and observing what she wants in this competitive individual sport.

During the Thanksgiving holidays, Emily and I also attended the 20th-anniversary celebration of the BareHill Rowing Association (BHRA). This was also my first time to join the Texas Hold’em Poker. Emily and I also bid on a HOCR gold medal in an auction. Emily also enjoyed line dancing, bull riding, and live music.
